UGA Certificate Level Testing Information

UGA Beekeeping Certification and Honey Judge Testing at the Fall GBA Meeting

To participate in testing you must register to attend the GBA Fall Conference and select the testing level as an add-on. Go to the events page to register.

Certified Testing $90*:

There are two portions of the test, the written and the practical. The written test will be administered at 2:00 PM on Thursday September 11, in the main conference room in the Ramsey Conference Center building. 

The Practical portion of the Certified Beekeeper Exam has two parts - each takes approximately 15 minutes: [1] an outdoor exam (at the apiary beside the main conference center building), where you will demonstrate your skills lighting (and keeping lit) a smoker and working a beehive, and [2] an indoor exam in the main conference center) where you will identify certain beekeeping tools & equipment. After you register you will be assigned a time slot for your practical exam, via email, so keep an eye out for that email two weeks before the test date. You must bring your own protective gear, hive tool, smoker, and smoker fuel.

Journeyman Testing $100*:

Review sessions for Journeyman candidates candidates will be offered at the Ramsey Conference Center at Lanier Technical College from 10:00AM to 12:00PM on Thursday September 11. After a lunch break from 12:00-1:00, the audits and practical exams will be conducted from 1:00-2:00 and 3:00-4:00 if needed. The written exam will be administered in the Ramsey Conference Center ballroom at 2:00.

Master Testing $100*:

Review sessions for Master candidates will be offered at the Ramsey Conference Center at Lanier Technical College from 10:00AM to 12:00PM on Thursday September 11.

After a lunch break from 12:00-1:00, the audits will be conducted from 1:00-2:00, and written exam will be administered in the Ramsey Conference Center ballroom at 2:00.

Master CraftsTesting $100*:

Please contact Jennifer Berry by August 1 to arrange for this testing level.

Honey Judge Training and Testing $145*:

Training for the Honey Judge program begins on Thursday morning, September 11 at 8:30AM in the Honey Show room in the Ramsey conference center and will continue through the day on Friday. Honey show level 2, 3 training continues on Saturday from 9:00-12, with exams and audits scheduled from 1:00-3:00 PM.

*Note that your testing fee includes lunch on Thursday
